Future Leaders: The Capital Campaign for Harlem Academy
Harlem Academy was founded in 2004 with a mission to drive equity of opportunity for promising students. What began as 12 children in a church basement is now 125 students in first through eighth grade. Over the past 15 years, we have developed a program that cultivates academic excellence and a deep commitment to community contribution. Today, Harlem Academy graduates are making their mark at our nation’s top secondary schools and universities, including Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, NYU, and RPI.
The next step in Harlem Academy’s evolution is a permanent campus. In 2013, our Board of Trustees marked its commitment to the future of Harlem Academy by purchasing a half-acre lot on 143rd Street and St. Nicholas Avenue as the future site of our school.
The launch of Future Leaders: The Capital Campaign for Harlem Academy will deliver on that commitment. Having raised more than 84% of the $31 million needed to build a permanent campus, we are on track to break ground in May 2020 and move in August 2021.
